BNV : এই সময় একবার অসুস্থ হয়ে হিষ্কিয়র প্রায় মর মর অবস্থা হলে আমোসের পুত্র ভাব্বাদী যিশাইয় তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করে বললেন, “প্রভু তোমায় সব হাতের কাজ আর ঘর গেরস্থালী গোছগাছ করে নিতে বলেছেন| কারণ তুমি আর বাঁচবে না, তোমার মৃত্যু হবে!”
KJV : In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
YLT : In those days hath Hezekiah been sick unto death, and come unto him doth Isaiah son of Amoz the prophet, and saith unto him, `Thus said Jehovah: Give a charge to thy house, for thou art dying, and dost not live.`
RV : In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live.
RSV : In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, `Set your house in order; for you shall die, you shall not recover.'"
ASV : In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith Jehovah, Set thy house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
ESV : In those days Hezekiah became sick and was at the point of death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, "Thus says the LORD, 'Set your house in order, for you shall die; you shall not recover.'"
ERVEN : At that time Hezekiah became sick and almost died. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to see him and told him, "The Lord says, 'You will die soon, so you should tell your family what they should do when you die. You will not get well.'"

BNV : হিষ্কিয় তখন দেওয়ালের দিকে মুখ ফিরিযে প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করে বললেন,
KJV : Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying,
YLT : And he turneth round his face unto the wall, and prayeth unto Jehovah, saying,

RSV : Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying,

ESV : Then Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the LORD, saying,
ERVEN : Hezekiah turned his face to the wall {that faced the Temple} and began praying to the Lord.

BNV : “প্রভু মনে রেখ আমি সমস্ত অন্তঃকরণ দিয়ে মনে প্রাণে তোমার সেবা করেছি| যা কিছু ভাল কাজ তুমি করতে বলেছ সবই আমি করেছি|” তারপর হিষ্কিয় খুব কান্নাকাটি করলেন|
KJV : I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done [that which is] good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
YLT : `I pray Thee, O Jehovah, remember, I pray Thee, how I have walked habitually before Thee in truth, and with a perfect heart, and that which [is] good in Thine eyes I have done;` and Hezekiah weepeth -- a great weeping.
RV : Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
RSV : "Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in thy sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
ASV : Remember now, O Jehovah, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.
ESV : "Now, O LORD, please remember how I have walked before you in faithfulness and with a whole heart, and have done what is good in your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly.
ERVEN : "Lord, remember that I have sincerely served you with all my heart. I have done what you say is good." Then Hezekiah cried very hard.

BNV : যিশাইয় যাবার পথে যখন তিনি উঠোনের মাঝখান পর্য়ন্ত গিয়েছেন, সে সময় প্রভুর বাণী তাঁর কানে প্রবেশ করল| প্রভু বললেন,
KJV : And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
YLT : And it cometh to pass -- Isaiah hath not gone out to the middle court -- that the word of Jehovah hath been unto him, saying,
RV : And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle part of the city, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
RSV : And before Isaiah had gone out of the middle court, the word of the LORD came to him:
ASV : And it came to pass, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle part of the city, that the word of Jehovah came to him, saying,

ERVEN : Before Isaiah had left the middle courtyard, he received this message from the Lord,

BNV : “যাও, আমার লোকদের নেতা হিষ্কিয়কে গিয়ে বল, ‘তোমার পিতা দায়ূদের প্রভু তোমার প্রার্থনা শুনেছেন এবং তোমার চোখের জল দেখেছেন| তাই আমি তোমায় সারিযে তুলব| আজ থেকে তিন দিনের মাথায় তুমি আবার প্রভুর মন্দিরে য়েতে পারবে|
KJV : Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
YLT : `Turn back, and thou hast said unto Hezekiah, leader of My people: Thus said Jehovah, God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tear, lo, I give healing to thee, on the third day thou dost go up to the house of Jehovah;
RV : Turn again, and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
RSV : "Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; behold, I will heal you; on the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.
ASV : Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the prince of my people, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee; on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of Jehovah.
ESV : "Turn back, and say to Hezekiah the leader of my people, Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD,
ERVEN : "Go back and speak to Hezekiah, the leader of my people. Tell him, 'The Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: I heard your prayer and I saw your tears, so I will heal you. On the third day you will go up to the Temple of the Lord.

BNV : আর আমি তোমার পরমাযু আরো
KJV : And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David’s sake.
YLT : and I have added to thy days fifteen years, and out of the hand of the king of Asshur I deliver thee and this city, and have covered over this city for Mine own sake, and for the sake of David My servant.`
RV : And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant David-s sake.
RSV : And I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David's sake."
ASV : And I will add unto thy days fifteen years; and I will deliver thee and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for mine own sake, and for my servant Davids sake.
ESV : and I will add fifteen years to your life. I will deliver you and this city out of the hand of the king of Assyria, and I will defend this city for my own sake and for my servant David's sake."
ERVEN : I will add 15 years to your life. I will save you and this city from the king of Assyria. I will protect this city. I will do this for myself and because of the promise I made to my servant David.'"

BNV : যিশাইয় তখন বললেন, “ডুমুর ফল বেটে রাজার ক্ষতস্থানে লাগিয়ে দাও|”কথা মতো হিষ্কিয়র ক্ষতস্থানে ডুমুরের প্রলেপ লাগাতে হিষ্কিয় সুস্থ হয়ে উঠলেন|
KJV : And Isaiah said, Take a lump of figs. And they took and laid [it] on the boil, and he recovered.
YLT : And Isaiah saith, `Take ye a cake of figs;` and they take and lay [it] on the boil, and he reviveth.
RV : And Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
RSV : And Isaiah said, "Bring a cake of figs. And let them take and lay it on the boil, that he may recover."
ASV : And Isaiah said, Take a cake of figs. And they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered.
ESV : And Isaiah said, "Bring a cake of figs. And let them take and lay it on the boil, that he may recover."
ERVEN : Then Isaiah said, "Crush figs together and put them on your sore; you will get well." So they took the mixture of figs and put it on Hezekiah's sore place, and he got well.

BNV : হিষ্কিয় বললেন, “আমি কি করে বুঝব য়ে প্রভু আবার আমায় সারিযে তুলবেন, আর তিন দিনের মাথায় আমি তাঁর মন্দিরে য়েতে পারব?”
KJV : And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What [shall be] the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up into the house of the LORD the third day?
YLT : And Hezekiah saith unto Isaiah, `What [is] the sign that Jehovah doth give healing to me, that I have gone up on the third day to the house of Jehovah?`
RV : And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up unto the house of the LORD the third day?
RSV : And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the LORD on the third day?"
ASV : And Hezekiah said unto Isaiah, What shall be the sign that Jehovah will heal me, and that I shall go up unto the house of Jehovah the third day?
ESV : And Hezekiah said to Isaiah, "What shall be the sign that the LORD will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of the LORD on the third day?"
ERVEN : Hezekiah asked Isaiah, "What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I will go up to the Temple of the Lord on the third day?"

BNV : যিশাইয় বললেন, “তুমি কি চাও? ছায়াটা কি দশ পা এগিয়ে যাবে, না দশ পা পিছিযে যাবে?প্রভু য়ে কথা বলেছেন তাহা য়ে সফল করবেন তাহার এই চিহ্ন তোমার জন্য|”
KJV : And Isaiah said, This sign shalt thou have of the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten degrees, or go back ten degrees?
YLT : And Isaiah saith, `This [is] to thee the sign from Jehovah, that Jehovah doth the thing that He hath spoken -- The shadow hath gone on ten degrees, or it doth turn back ten degrees?`
RV : And Isaiah said, This shall be the sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?
RSV : And Isaiah said, "This is the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has promised: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?"
ASV : And Isaiah said, This shall be the sign unto thee from Jehovah, that Jehovah will do the thing that he hath spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?
ESV : And Isaiah said, "This shall be the sign to you from the LORD, that the LORD will do the thing that he has promised: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps?"
ERVEN : Isaiah said, "Which do you want? Should the shadow go forward ten steps or go back ten steps? This is the sign for you from the Lord to show that the Lord will do what he said he would do."

BNV : হিষ্কিয় উত্তর দিলেন, “না না, ছায়ার পক্ষে এগিয়ে চলাটাই সহজ! আপনি বরঞ্চ আহসের সিঁড়িতে ছায়াটাকে দশ পা পিছু হটিযে দিন|”
KJV : And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to go down ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten degrees.
YLT : And Hezekiah saith, `It hath been light for the shadow to incline ten degrees: nay, but let the shadow turn backward ten degrees.`
RV : And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.
RSV : And Hezekiah answered, "It is an easy thing for the shadow to lengthen ten steps; rather let the shadow go back ten steps."
ASV : And Hezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: nay, but let the shadow return backward ten steps.
ESV : And Hezekiah answered, "It is an easy thing for the shadow to lengthen ten steps. Rather let the shadow go back ten steps."
ERVEN : Hezekiah answered, "It is an easy thing for the shadow to go down ten steps. No, make the shadow go back ten steps."

BNV : যিশাইয় তখন প্রভুর কাছে প্রার্থনা করলেন এবং প্রভু সেই ছায়াটাকে আহসের সিঁড়িপথে দশ পা পিছিযে দিলেন যেখানে সেটা একটু আগেই ছিল|”
KJV : And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had gone down in the dial of Ahaz.
YLT : And Isaiah the prophet calleth unto Jehovah, and He bringeth back the shadow by the degrees that it had gone down in the degrees of Ahaz -- backward ten degrees.
RV : And Isaiah the prophet cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.
RSV : And Isaiah the prophet cried to the LORD; and he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which the sun had declined on the dial of Ahaz.
ASV : And Isaiah the prophet cried unto Jehovah; and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, by which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz.
ESV : And Isaiah the prophet called to the LORD, and he brought the shadow back ten steps, by which it had gone down on the steps of Ahaz.
ERVEN : Then Isaiah prayed, and the Lord made the shadow move back ten steps. It went back up the steps that it had already been on.

BNV : সেসময়ে বাবিলের রাজা ছিলেন বলদনের পুত্র বরোদক্বলদন্| হিষ্কিয়র অসুস্থতার কথা শুনে তিনি লোক মারফত্‌ তাঁর জন্য চিঠি ও একটি উপহার পাঠিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : At that time Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
YLT : At that time hath Berodach-Baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick;
RV : At that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah: for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
RSV : At that time Merodachbaladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent envoys with letters and a present to Hezekiah; for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
ASV : At that time Berodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto Hezekiah; for he had heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
ESV : At that time Merodach-baladan the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent envoys with letters and a present to Hezekiah, for he heard that Hezekiah had been sick.
ERVEN : At that time Merodach Baladan son of Baladan was king of Babylon. He sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah when he heard that Hezekiah had been sick.

BNV : হিষ্কিয় বাবিলের এই ব্যক্তিদের স্বাগত জানিয়ে তাঁদের রাজপ্রাসাদের ও তাঁর রাজত্বের সোনা, রূপো, মশলাপাতি, দুর্মূল্য আতর, অস্ত্রশস্ত্র ও রাজকোষের যা কিছু সম্ভার, তা দেখিয়েছিলেন| সারা রাজ্যে এমন কিছু ছিল না যা হিষ্কিয় তাদের দেখান নি|
KJV : And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and [all] the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah shewed them not.
YLT : and Hezekiah hearkeneth unto them, and sheweth them all the house of his treasury, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the good ointment, and all the house of his vessels, and all that hath been found in his treasuries; there hath not been a thing that Hezekiah hath not shewed them, in his house, and in all his dominion.
RV : And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and shewed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion that Hezekiah shewed them not.
RSV : And Hezekiah welcomed them, and he showed them all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his armory, all that was found in his storehouses; there was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.
ASV : And Hezekiah hearkened unto them, and showed them all the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not.
ESV : And Hezekiah welcomed them, and he showed them all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his armory, all that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.
ERVEN : Hezekiah listened to the messengers and then showed them all the valuable things he owned. He showed them the silver, the gold, the spices, the expensive perfume, and the building where he stored the weapons. He showed them everything in his treasuries, in his palace, and in his kingdom.

BNV : তখন ভাব্বাদী যিশাইয় হিষ্কিয়র কাছে এসে প্রশ্ন করলেন, “এরা কোত্থেকে এসেছে? কি বলছে?”হিষ্কিয় বললেন, “এরা বাবিল নামে বহু দূরের এক দেশ থেকে এসেছে|”
KJV : Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, [even] from Babylon.
YLT : And Isaiah the prophet cometh in unto king Hezekiah, and saith unto him, `What said these men? and whence come they unto thee?` And Hezekiah saith, `From a land afar off they have come -- from Babylon.`
RV : Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
RSV : Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, "What did these men say? And whence did they come to you?" And Hezekiah said, "They have come from a far country, from Babylon."
ASV : Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country, even from Babylon.
ESV : Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah, and said to him, "What did these men say? And from where did they come to you?" And Hezekiah said, "They have come from a far country, from Babylon."
ERVEN : Then Isaiah the prophet came to king Hezekiah and asked him, "What did these men say? Where did they come from?" Hezekiah said, "These men came from a faraway country, from Babylon."

BNV : যিশাইয় জিজ্ঞেস করলেন, “তোমার প্রাসাদে ওরা কি দেখল?”হিষ্কিয় বললেন, “সবই দেখেছে| রাজকোষে এমনকোন জিনিস নেই, যা আমি ওদের দেখাই নি|”
KJV : And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All [the things] that [are] in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
YLT : And he saith, `What saw they in thy house?` and Hezekiah saith, `All that [is] in my house they saw; there hath not been a thing that I have not shewed them among my treasures.`
RV : And he said, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not shewed them.
RSV : He said, "What have they seen in your house?" And Hezekiah answered, "They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them."
ASV : And he said, What have they seen in thy house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in my house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them.
ESV : He said, "What have they seen in your house?" And Hezekiah answered, "They have seen all that is in my house; there is nothing in my storehouses that I did not show them."
ERVEN : Isaiah said, "What did they see in your palace?" Hezekiah answered, "They saw everything I own. I showed them all my wealth."

BNV : তখন যিশাইয় হিষ্কিয়কে বললেন, “প্রভু যা বলছেন মন দিয়ে শোনো| তিনি বলছেন,
KJV : And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
YLT : And Isaiah saith unto Hezekiah, `Hear a word of Jehovah:
RV : And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD.
RSV : Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD:
ASV : And Isaiah said unto Hezekiah, Hear the word of Jehovah.
ESV : Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Hear the word of the LORD:
ERVEN : Then Isaiah said to Hezekiah, "Listen to this message from the Lord.

BNV : “শীঘ্রই এমন দিন আসছে যখন তোমার রাজপ্রাসাদের সবকিছু, যা কিছু তোমার পূর্বপুরুষরা আজ পর্য়ন্ত সঞ্চয় করে গিয়েছেন, বাবিলে নিয়ে যাওয়া হবে! কিছুই আর পড়ে থাকবে না|
KJV : Behold, the days come, that all that [is] in thine house,and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
YLT : Lo, days are coming, and borne hath been all that [is] in thy house, and that thy father have treasured up till this day, to Babylon; there is not left a thing, said Jehovah;
RV : Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
RSV : Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon; nothing shall be left, says the LORD.
ASV : Behold, the days come, that all that is in thy house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith Jehovah.
ESV : Behold, the days are coming, when all that is in your house, and that which your fathers have stored up till this day, shall be carried to Babylon. Nothing shall be left, says the LORD.
ERVEN : The time is coming when everything in your palace and everything your ancestors have saved until today will be carried away to Babylon. Nothing will be left! The Lord said this.

BNV : বাবিলের লোরা তোমার পুত্রদেরও সেখানে নিয়ে যাবে এবং তাদের নপুংসক করে বাবিলের রাজপ্রাসাদে রাখা হবে|”
KJV : And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
YLT : and of thy sons who go out from thee, whom thou begettest, they take away, and they have been eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.`
RV : And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
RSV : And some of your own sons, who are born to you, shall be taken away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon."
ASV : And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, whom thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
ESV : And some of your own sons, who shall be born to you, shall be taken away, and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon."
ERVEN : The Babylonians will take your sons, and your sons will become officers in the palace of the king of Babylon."

BNV : হিষ্কিয় তখন যিশাইয়কে বললেন, “খবরটা বেশ ভালই! কারণ তিনি ভাবলেন, আমার জীবিত কালে শান্তি বজায় থাকলেই আমি খুশী!”
KJV : Then said Hezekiah unto Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. And he said, [Is it] not [good,] if peace and truth be in my days?
YLT : And Hezekiah saith unto Isaiah, `Good [is] the word of Jehovah that thou hast spoken;` and he saith, `Is it not -- if peace and truth are in my days?`

RSV : Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, "The word of the LORD which you have spoken is good." For he thought, "Why not, if there will be peace and security in my days?"

ERVEN : Then Hezekiah told Isaiah, "This message from the Lord is good." (Hezekiah said this because he thought, "There will be real peace and security during my lifetime.")
